I had the opportunity to lead worship again at my brother-n-law’s church.  What an awesome time we had today as we made God BIG and focused on His love, mercy and goodness!  Here is today’s setlist:

Never really thought I would write another one of these as I thought my days of leading worship were pretty much in the past. I had the opportunity to lead in worship at my brother-in-laws’ church today.  After taking three months off from leading, it was very refreshing to get up and once again lead God’s people into His presence.  We had a great day of worship, followed by an all you can eat rib dinner!  Who could ask for more?

I appreciated Pastor Earl Smith asking me to fill in for the day.  He was a gracious host and has a heart for God and God’s people!  The people of Granger Missionary Church were also very friendly, kind and loving.  Thanks to all for the honor of leading today!

Well, here it goes!  This is my very last Worship Confessional as the Worship Pastor at Glenville Church (and likely anywhere, as we are moving into a different phase of ministry).  We finished our service just a while ago, and will be heading back to the church in a bit to have a get together with our church family to say goodbye.   I always hate this part.  Goodbyes are hard, especially when they are not really what you had planned.  We will miss Glenville, but are excited to see what adventure is ahead.  This week, we will be finishing all the packing, and then Thursday, we will head up to Michigan to stay with some family for a bit.  We will post an update on all that once we get up there and get settled.  For now, take a look at my last Sunday Setlist:

This was the second week of our first series of the year called, “The Body,” which focuses on the church working together to be the church. I think there are many Christ-followers today that are disassociated from the church which not only hurts them, but it hurts the body as well. I know there are sometimes reasons why people have left or felt rejected by the church, but it is still God’s plan for the believer to be engaged in a local church for relationships, for service and for accountability. It has been kind of surreal to think about me only having two more weeks of leading worship at Glenville (or anywhere for that matter – read my announcement from last week if you have not). We have some tentative plans on what we will be doing that I will share in the near future here on my blog.

It was really good to be back leading today after taking a week off.  The first Sunday of the year always feels so fresh and new. I LOVE the new year and all the changes that come with it.  Speaking of change, today was a day of changes announced at our church.  Our Lead Pastor told the church that our financial situation at the church has necessitated some major changes needing to take place so that the church can maintain ministry.  We have had a lot of job losses affect our people and offerings have really suffered because of that.  With all that said, our Pastor let the congregation know that two of the full time staff pastors will be leaving.  I am one of those. I will write another post about it later.  For now, let’s get to the setlist!

This was our last week of our message series called “The Gift.”  There is not much that I can say to brag on my teams other than “awesome.”  Everyone did a great job!  The choir was enthusiastic, the solists and cast did super!  There was nothing that could have been done any better.  We actually had a day with NO congregational singing.  That is the first time I have ever done that, but with the timing of everything else we just did not have time.  Anyways, here is the order of the day:

I am excited to start the new year!  The next two weeks will be nice as we celebrate the holidays!  I hope you all have a Merry Christmas!  This post is also part of Sunday Setlists at Fred McKinnon [dot] com.

Today was the second in our series called “The Gift.”  The big idea for the day was “giving ourselves to God,” because He gave His Son for us.  Our drama, vocals and tech teams all did a wonderful job in their areas.  Everything went off without a hitch!  I am so proud of our team!  The version of “The Little Drummer Boy” is probably one of my favorite arrangements this year.  My son played a hand drum along with it.  I will try and post a video of it tomorrow sometime.  Anyways, on to the setlist!

What an awesome time of year!  I know I have said it the last couple of weeks, but I do it!  I hope everyone is having a great holiday season!  Next week, we present the last part of our series!  Cannot wait to see what God does!  This post is also part of Sunday Setlists at Fred McKinnon [dot] com.

It’s the most wonderful time of the year!  I know, not very original!  But I do love this Holiday Season.  I love the focus of Thanksgiving, the celebration of Christmas and the fresh start of the New Year!

We started our new three week series today called “The Gift.”  Yes, it is a very simple title, but it is a very simple message that we are trying to present about God being the ultimate giver and Jesus being the ultimate gift!  We have a three week drama we are presenting that one of our ladies wrote for us (Thanks Patti!), and the choir is adding a few songs to it to make for a wonderful time of celebration! We scaled back our congregational singing for the next three weeks to have the time we need for everything.  We will sing some carols throughout the set though is a variety of ways.  Today we used just a piano and had congregational singing intertwined within the drama.  Here is the flow for the day:
